the happy tag // a photographic walk-through of good things

Hey y’all!

This past week has been crazy, but at least it wasn’t NaNoWriMo. XD I had a lovely time, but I am glad it’s done for the time being.

For a little break from my usual routine, we have a wonderful tag from Amelie today!! It’s one I’ve known about for while (and I’m so sorry for not getting to it sooner!) and I figured that it would be a good idea to do it now!

Thanks again to Amelie at Swordmaiden of the King!

Off we go!

r u l e s :

  1. List 10 things that make you happy. (Linking to them, sharing pictures, writing poems about them, telling jokes, etc. are all encouraged but not required.)
  2. Tag 10 people who make you happy (and notify them of their tag) {Honestly, I’ll think I’ll leave it open at the end for all of those who want to do it 🙂 }

#1 – J E S U S

Honestly, this has to be the first one. I have been on a journey with Jesus, a little more intensively as of recently, for a long time now and it’s impossible to think of anything outside of Him. Like Amelie, this one has to come first. He’s the reason I get out of bed in the morning. I can’t think of anything I like more than walking with Him. While it sucks sometimes and hurts occasionally, I wouldn’t trade Him for the world, and I know He thinks the same of me, if not even more.

{i know this technically isn’t something to do with Jesus literally, but i feel him in these places and this picture makes me happy so it counts, man.}

#2 – W R I T I N G

A couple years ago, I decided that I wanted to write full time. This wasn’t just going to be another passing hobby for me. I wanted to write. I am so grateful that the Lord has given me the ability to write for Him. I’ve chosen to embrace my gifts and that keeps me going every day, even on days where I would rather do anything than write. The stories I craft and the characters I form make me so happy, and I really hope they make the Lord happy too. 🙂

one of my favorite quotes right now honestly.

#3 – F A M I L Y

I love my goofball family. They are all so supportive, and we all like Jesus and Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and the color blue. We eat burritos together and lift each other up. I think it’s pretty great. These pictures are great too. ❤

#4 – S U N F L O W E R S

I’ve had a bit of an obsession with sunflowers the past two (?) years or so. They are so happy and sunshine-y and strong. I’ve heard “sunflower” in prayer times before, and I feel like it is my flower. Any chance I can, I like to have sunflowers in my room. I think they are really symbolic because they follow the sun’s light no matter where it goes, and are still strong and beautiful. Also, I’m really proud of that sunflower I painted in the bottom corner. 🙂

SIDE NOTE IT HAS BEEN TOOOO LONG SINCE I HAD SUNFLOWERS AND IT IS TAKING A TOLL ON MY LITTLE HEART. 😦

#5 – F R I E N D S

Guys, I have been so blessed in the past two years with sweet, caring friends. While I am closer to some than others, each group is so dear to me. My sweet small group in the prayer huddle, my little group of freshmen and sophomores in the human pyramid, last years prom pictures, and my nerdy Jesus people; each of them is wonderful and I love them all so much.

#6 – S K Y / S T A R S

CAN WE JUST GIVE THE LORD A ROUND OF APPLAUSE????? Man, the sky never ceases to take my breath away. Obviously, I can’t get good star pictures, but they are my favorite things. So are sunrises and sunsets (fiddler on the roof starts playing in the background) and I have an excellent view from my room’s window. I’ve had the privilege of getting to go to both Tennessee mountains and a South Carolina beach this year, and both have had jaw-dropping skies.

#7 – C H U C K

This is my sweet boy, Chuck. He is my pride and joy. I call him many names, including Chuckles, Chuckchuck, Chucky boy, Charles, Charles VonChuckivich, Baby, etc. He is my sweet child. A majority of my pictures are of this angel’s face. I love this dog so much. xD He smells a little weird, as of right now, but he’ll get a bath sometime soon, so we all endure it. 🙂

#8 – M U S I C

I’m a really big music lover. Like, big time. I bet you didn’t know that. xD Music has always been a large part of my life and my family’s life. I listen to music regularly, and I play music regularly. Oh look! *that’s your cue to look down*

Hey what do you know! I just posted an original song! totally not for this blog post hahah what do you mean It’s about space! It’s pretty cool! My best friend likes it too!

Speaking of best friend, we have a band together and it’s wonderful! You should check it out! We’re not the greatest at posting regularly, but we’re students so it’s reasonable.

On the topic of listening to music, current favorites include Love Like This by Ben Rector, Show Yourself from Frozen II, A Gentlemen’s Guide to Love & Murder (original broadway cast), and just for fun, Evolution of Marshmallow Man by We Is Shore Dedicated. Those are all very different pieces of music, but they are really lovely.

#9 – B E S T F R I E N D

We can’t go on a tangent of things that make us happy without talking about our best friend. In this case, I have this lovely human. She is one of my biggest cheerleaders and is always there for me. I should mention that we live across the country from each other, but while annoying, that doesn’t hinder our craziness from reaching the other person (thank gOODness for texting). Sappy things make us both cry, so we’ll just say that she’s the Jack Kelly to my Crutchie Morris. Love you, dork. ❤

#10 – E X P E R I E N C E S

These are kind of my miscellaneous pile. I was scrolling through my photos remembering the things that I’ve done lately as in like the past year and a half lol and these were my favorites. My best friend and I dressed up for Halloween together as Orpheus and Eurydice from Hadestown the Broadway Musical, my brother and I found a large rock in a forest, I saw a pretty sunset which reminded me of the sandwich I ate on the Isle of Palms, SC, I saw a beautiful Canadian mountain range along with some yellow roses, I got fantastic boba in Seattle, the sky was beautiful in South Florida and there happened to be palm trees (which reminded me of my California home), I wrote “blossom” on my hand in Hebrew, I saw Anastasia in Nashville (which was GORGEOUS), I flew in a plane and that is always a wonderful experience being in the skyyyyyy, also I met Tigger ❤

Y’all. That was the most fun I’ve had in a while. I love the pictures I’ve taken. It’s finals season here, and I needed something to make me happy again. This sure worked 🙂

I know at the end of these things you’re supposed to tag people and tell them you tagged them, but I really don’t like that part of tags, so I’m gonna leave it open ended. Go for it. Everyone has a chance to be happy. Go share your ten happy things. You can credit me if you’d like, or just go be happy! I wish there was a way to do a sunshine emoji on my computer keyboard. Imagine I used it. xD

Now go forth, mis amigos and amigas, and smile. Your day is just beginning. Make the best of it. Don’t procrastinate. Work hard. Make me proud. 🙂

Love you all,

Madeleine
