Hey y’all!
So a couple weeks, I was able to visit one of my “bucket list” locations, as it were. If you ever get a chance to be in Kansas City, definitely check out the Kansas City International House of Prayer.
Holy smokes, you guys.
My mom was able to go almost exactly a year ago on the EFCA Challenge trip, because she was on the prayer team. However, I was actually attending the conference, so I did not get the opportunity to go to IHOP with the team.
Ever since then, I was really wanting to get back and be able to experience it for myself.
And a few weeks ago, I got to go.
It was one of the most life-changing things I have experienced. And that is saying something.
I made a little vlog and you can watch that below.
One of the things that I experienced there was whole-hearted surrender. It is so r a r e nowadays to meet people who are 100%, completely on-board with no exceptions. Even in churches, there are many, many people who just come to say they come. It makes me sad. But when I walked into this place, it was inspirational to say the least. This is not just some prayer place or just some worship place. This is 24/7 worship and prayer. You just come in and sit and soak. You can leave whenever, there is no agenda.
They switch worship teams every two hours, but they never let the music stop, even if they are switching bands.
DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT BLEW MY MIND TO WATCH??? I AM A MUSICIAN WHO WAS GEEKING OUT OVER BAND TRANSITIONS. IT WAS THE COOLEST THING.
btw you can go watch that, if you are EST, they change on the odd numbers.
They are 100% on fire for God. That is crazy inspiring.
Another thing, they are consistently having interns and college age students around them. They have like six different internships there, not to mention thEIR FREAKING UNIVERSITY THEY HAVE A FEW STREETS OVER. THEY HAVE A SCHOOL.
They have camps and trainings going on. They have college age kids doing all nighter prayer sessions as an internship for three months. I want to do that someday. Gosh, man…
I know it sounds cliche and what not, but I love people who are completely on fire and surrendered to God. It sounds simple, but believe me, it’s not. I want to know all of their stories. I want to know what got them to that spot. It isn’t an easy thing to surrender. I want to know why they are doing what they are doing.
It’s so freaking cool, guys.
It felt like going to prayer Disney World.
I think the coolest part of it all was the fact that it doesn’t need to stay there in Kansas City. The principles I learned are still the same here in Tennessee. It doesn’t matter where I am, because we still serve the same God. He is good through the pain, and loves us unconditionally. It’s crazy, y’all.
Well, so that is all for now!
Now go forth, mis amigos and amigas, and smile. Your day is just beginning. Make the best of it. Don’t procrastinate. Work hard. Make me proud. 🙂
Love you all,
Madeleine
WOAH DUDE I haven’t made it through your vlog yet (vacation) but that sounds amazingly cool and also I WANNA SEE THE TRANSITIONS
