a selection of musical wonders // my melodic tastes from this past month

Hey y’all!

Things are both winding up and winding down over here at Brain Explosion Palace (aka where i live now apparently).

I have exactly 29 days till my last day of school, (not that I’m counting or anything) and everything is going insane until that day comes. This includes a good number of tests, presentations, three large-ish papers, two oral reports, two finals, oh and prom. (and this count is just school related activities) We are working our hardest until the blessed twenty-second of May in the year of our Lord, 2019.

In the midst of that, we got my dumb little brain going “hey new ideas! here! have this entire new plot + characters + aesthetic and vibe!” It did this recently and I about lost it.

Hi brain, I love you, but dude we can barely write the main novel we have going. Show some restraint.

Anyway, seeing as life is crazy, I figured I’d do a music post since I hadn’t done that in a while. Also, it’s just pleasant. Here’s my little list of albums/songs that I’ve been enjoying this month!

  • The first album that I’ve fallen in love with over the past month or so is the Sleeping At Last “Keep No Score” album from 2006. It has a little bit of a different feel musically than his recent stuff (more like alt. rock vibe), but honestly it’s still so good and it’s still his masterful lyrics. It’s also one of those really nice albums that is able to fill up your head with sound (that sounds weird idk) but like when you need a full sound, this album is really nice. I’ve embedded the album below. 🙂
  • The second one has been floating around my brain recently after Dave of The Gray Havens recommended it in one of their update posts maybe a month and a half-ish ago?? Gustav Holst’s “The Planets” suite has been on repeat for a couple weeks now and man I love it. I’ve been on a bit of a classical kick lately (which happens every now and then because who doesn’t love music like that, man), and this is so beautifully crafted.
  • SPEAKING OF CLASSICAL… *clap* EDVARD *clap* GRIEG *clap* goodness gracious. He’s one of my favorite classical composers. Anyway, here have this lovely video (also at like 4:17 a whole bunch of people start coughing and I found this video so that it would be in the post but I was watching it and I DIED WHEN THAT HAPPENED LIKE WHY IS THAT THERE I FIND THAT SO FUNNY XD)
  • Okay so this next one, I actually created this playlist for a friend, but I really like it and it’s been on repeat. It features a variety of different sounds (including a couple movie score pieces as well as just indie folkie songs that I love and listen to)

So that’s about all I have for you today, folks! Sorry, I know it is a little shorter than my normal post, but you know what, that is okay. At least you have some music to listen to now!

Until next week!

Now go forth, mis amigos and amigas, and smile. Your day is just beginning. Make the best of it. Don’t procrastinate. Work hard. Make me proud. 🙂

Love you all,

Madeleine ❤ ❤ ❤

P.S. in case you don’t follow my best friend and I on youtube, if you want to see what I am up to on a daily-ish basis, our latest vid is a vlog I made about my day. You can follow me around!

(my bestie will be putting hers up soon and she’s pretty great so definitely go subscribe so you see it when she does!) 🙂
